Lesotho Border two Border Campaign
Hey supporters!
I want to share an incredible initiative led by 19-year-old son, Joel Smith. He's embarking on a challenging trail run across Lesotho in December 2023, aiming to become the youngest person to achieve this feat. Joel's motivation is to raise funds for The Kings Childrens Home, a facility caring for 70 abandoned and orphaned babies and children.
Last year, during his matric year, Joel ran 100kms in the Amatola mountains, raising R55,000 for the home. This year, he's taking on an even more ambitious challenge—running with me, his dad, across Lesotho to cover a distance of approximately 250+ kms in a week. The goal is to raise funds to support the home for a year.
We're using social media to amplify our message and collaborating with SPORT FOR LIVES, a national sports fundraising platform. Individuals and companies, including, are encouraged to sponsor us per kilometer or contribute any amount.
We're grateful for the support from Buffalo Toyota and Crossways Spar, but currently, we've only raised R6,000. Joel's target is R100,000, a modest amount compared to the home's monthly expenses.
We're exploring a partnership with BACKABUDDY to broaden our reach.
Any support will greatly help Joel and me reach our goal and aid The Kings Childrens Home in caring for these less fortunate children.
Kind Regards,
Fran Smith
