My name is Chané Hamid, daughter of Monir Hamid. In 1997, my father came to South Africa from Gaza, Palestine. Our relatives in Gaza are enduring tremendous suffering under the ongoing siege. Yasmeen Ameen Hamid, my cousin, underwent a kidney transplant. Sadly, due to the current war, she's unable to access essential treatment and is managing with dialysis. The limited medical supplies and operations at the few open hospitals have caused blockages in her condition, as detailed in the attached letter.

Our aim is to relocate Yasmeen and her mother, Maysoon Hamid, from Gaza through the Rafah border to Egypt for her urgently needed treatment. However, Ameen Hamid, Yasmeen's father, was informed he's unable to leave. Amidst the ongoing bombardment, many family members remain in Gaza, facing severe challenges.

Yasmeen's condition involves two blocked veins, and the ongoing conflict impedes her from receiving necessary medical aid. Although my uncle obtained a doctor's letter for border passage into Egypt, we await Israel's permission for their departure.

I've learned that there's a charge of $5000 per person to secure spots on the Rafah crossing list. To send both Yasmeen and her mother, we require a total of $10,000 (estimated at R186,000). Our goal is to raise funds to facilitate their journey and cover Yasmeen's surgery. Your donations, no matter the amount, would be immensely valuable.
