From the 1st of March 2018 till the 8th I am riding my bicycle with other selfless buddies down to Cape Town from Sun City, over 8 days, amounting to 1749 Kilometres. We will give bicycles, water, educational facilities etc, to charitable organizations along the route. Please raise funds so that we can impact as many people as possible. 

 

On Thursday, 1 March 2018, we will commence a grueling 1,749-kilometer ride from Sun International’s Sun City Resort in South Africa’s North West Province to The Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town to raise awareness and funds for various charities.

 

 

The 16th Annual Sun City to The Table Bay Charity Cycle Tour, we will ride about 216 kilometers a day to cover the full distance to Cape Town in a week. Along the way, we will stop in Klerksdorp, Bloemhof, Kimberley, Britstown, Beaufort West, Laingsburg, and Worcester.

 We will not only donate money and products to charity organizations en route to Cape Town but will also support the World Bicycle Relief Organisation and promote the sport of cycling by donating bicycles to previously disadvantaged individuals.

 Over the past 15 years, The Sun City to The Table Bay Charity Cycle Tour has donated approximately R 9-million to various charity organizations. These include amongst others Langebrug School, Maths & Science Academy Northern Cape, Portlands High School, Mary Harding School, CANSA, the Grace Help Centre for abused woman and children, the Aids Orphanage Housing Project, Childline Northern Cape, Moira’s House, Nazareth House, the School for the Deaf in Worcester, Saartjie Baarman Centre for Abused Woman and Children, The NSPCA, the Toevlug Rehab Centre.

 

The Sun City to The Table Bay Charity Cycle Tour boasts a diverse mix of cyclists of all ages, and from different countries and include riders from Austria and Germany. Johann Mare, Materials Manager at Sun City and Tour Organiser, who has participated in every Sun City to The Table Bay Charity Cycle Tour since its inception will take on the ride on Tandem. Four of the riders in the 2018 tour have taken part in the event for more than 10 years.

 

It takes a lot of commitment, dedication and effort to prepare for an endurance event of this magnitude. The team has prepared for the trek for the past seven months as, without the necessary preparation, the cyclists would not be able to complete the event.

 we will be welcomed at the Flamingo Casino on Saturday 3 March, the Golden Valley Casino on Wednesday 7 March and The Table Bay on 8 March 2018. The Team will participate in the Cape Town Cycle Tour as a Charity Bond Entry on 11 March 2018 before making their way back to Sun City.
