Gracey Stanton with update

Ashley and Slade Stanton conceived what they thought were twins however a third heartbeat was found by the Gynecologist and subsequently referred for a special scan which took place on the 9/5/2023 at the Fetal Assessment Centre. The scan revealed triplets, two twin girls in a separate placenta to the boy, thought to have Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS). The doctor advised Ashley to see a specific specialist in CT at Panorama Mediclinic (only he could perhaps restore normal circulation to the twins). This trip was undertaken however, Dr Pistorius confirmed unequal placenta sharing of the twin girls and not TTTS (Emryn and Gracey).  The boy, Sagan was healthy in his own placenta.   Gracey was much smaller than her sister, we wer told unlikely to survive to term. If he tried to intervene it could induce the birth of all three and they could die as it was early and so all we could do was monitor, hope and let nature take its course. To our surprise, Ashley was able to carry them just long enough until all three were born - Sagan was 1.6kg, Emryn 1.3kg and Gracey 804kg.

Tragedy struck when unfortunately, Sagan contracted a hospital acquired bug resulting in pneumonia, and he died 11 days after birth.  It devastated the family but we did not get time to mourn as both girls were also sick, Gracey almost died also due to negligence and and we had them moved to another hospital immediately. As soon as they we admitted to Unitas Gracey turned around in 24 hours, Emryn began to thrive and went home not long thereafter.  As Gracey had a low birth weight she remained in Neonatal ICU for four months however when feeding was attempted she could not swallow and an MRI confirming a diagnosis of Pontocerebellar hypoplasia (PCH) was confirmed.
