Personal message

For most, December is a time for giving, a time for family, goodwill, peace and love...

Whilst many will spend the Xmas holidays lazing in the sun, playing games with the family or just taking a well deserved break, it is the busiest time of year for the Midrand SPCA and our 10 dedicated staff members.

Over December and January, we usually see our highest intake of animals - abused, neglected, unwanted and abandoned.

Our staff do not have the opportunity to spend Christmas going home to their families and enjoying the love and peace of the festive season, but, as much as this may be a sad thing, they are proud to know that they will be there to answer the calls, clean the kennels, wash the blankets, provide food, warmth, shelter and comfort to those that need them most. 

They will be there to respond to the calls for help at 2am in the morning when an animal in distress needs someone to help and give them a loving hand and speak up on their behalf.

They, our staff, will do all of this and sacrifice time with their loved ones, to ensure that every animal receives the help, love and attention that they need.

So as you prepare to spend the festive season with your loved ones, please take a moment to think of the animal warriors who will be working around the clock this festive season and kindly consider a small donation so that we may be able to thank those who will continue to fight for animals.
