Chabad Cycles for Friendship Circle

An enthusiastic bunch of guys from Chabad Cape Town who have saddled up and hit the road with their bicycles will ride the Pick n Pay Cape Argus Cycle Tour 2012 for a good cause. Team Chabad needs your support.

Leading up to the big race on 11 March, Team Chabad will be training hard and raising funds for a charity called The Friendship Circle; a non-profit organization that provides assistance and support to the families of children with special needs, servicing these special souls through educational and social programmes.

At the heart of the organization is a dedicated group of teenage volunteers who give freely of their time, devotion and unconditional love. Although therapies and specialized schooling may be available to children with special needs, many parents feel that their child may be missing out on developing true friendships. The Friendship Circle addresses this need by providing innovative programming designed to foster relationships between community teenagers and children with special needs.

Each child is paired up with a specific volunteer who will pay weekly visits to their special friend throughout the year. The volunteer will get to know their special friend in an environment where he/she feels most comfortable and together they will partake in different activities such as baking, sports, playing board games etc. In this way, the volunteer and child form a special friendship that will last them a lifetime.

Monies raised will be used to purchase educational and social development books, toys and other tools. You can make a difference by making a donation directly to The Friendship Circle.
