Personal message

The plan: After 22 years of rushing around the Cape peninsula as fast as possible, I've decided to take a more laid back approach to the 2013 Argus cycle tour.

I came across some fantastic machinery built by Zahier Davids of Flywheel Bikes and I thought that would be the ideal way to spend the day ... and Zahier was kind enough to lend me a low rider cruiser for the day.

So I'll be pedalling this single speed low rider cruiser around the peninsula, taking in the sights and sounds in the name of charity.

The charity: Umthombo Wesizwe ( www.uwfund.org ) focuses on developing ethical leaders ... something that I'm sure you'll all agree is vitally important to our country's future. Reading the headlines at the moment they certainly have their work cut out and will need every bit of funding possible. Tax receipts are available for all donors.

Please help me by making a donation to Umthombo Wesizwe via this secure site.

The bike: If you would like to see the bike that I'll be riding and some of the other awesome bikes that Flywheel Bikes builds, visit their stand at the expo or check out their website:  www.flywheelbikes.co.za

Umthombo Wesizwe Childrens Project

Charity Default Logo

Umthombo Wesizwe (which means “Spring of the Nation”) is a Non-Profit organisation, whose purpose is to equip children between the ages of 11-15 years with skills to become ethical leaders, be proud of who they are while respecting and valuing the diversity of others around them. The programme is spread over a 3 year period and is designed to enhance experiential learning through camp-based workshops, monitoring of their individual progress and community projects. Via their participation in these community projects the children become role models to many around them thus leveraging the impact of the programme.
