Personal message

 Ben (5) and Molly (3) are super excited to be riding their first Argus. Ben asked me tonight “how many sleeps until his ‘Argust’”

He has already ordered his Energade (bless him!) and planned some practice rides with his dad. He will be tackling the 5km and Molly the 1.5km.

Ben and Molly are super excitable supporters of Umthombo Weziswe (UW). Both can be heard regularly humming the UW jingle. T-shirts worn every day!

As their mom, I wish for them to become empowered free thinking individuals in our multi-racial setting. I look forward to the day they learn the leaderships skills of UW…and may they always be inspired by their granny; Ruth Friedmann (UW Founder & CEO). Please support them as they lead the way at the junior Argus 2012

 Umthombo Wesizwe's mission is to provide a platform for youth (11-15 years) from diverse communities in South Africa to develop an identity that will enable them to evolve as responsible citizens and ethical leaders within a multicultural society.

Umthombo Wesizwe Childrens Project

Umthombo Wesizwe (which means “Spring of the Nation”) is a Non-Profit organisation, whose purpose is to equip children between the ages of 11-15 years with skills to become ethical leaders, be proud of who they are while respecting and valuing the diversity of others around them. The programme is spread over a 3 year period and is designed to enhance experiential learning through camp-based workshops, monitoring of their individual progress and community projects. Via their participation in these community projects the children become role models to many around them thus leveraging the impact of the programme.
