RIDE FOR A PURPOSE
About MES:
MES is a Christian social development organisation that facilitates professional services to vulnerable or at risk individuals, families and communities empowering them through a holistic service model to become independent and sustainable. Our vision is “To change the heart of the City!” MES is a registered Non Profit organization and renders services in the greater Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Kempton Park.
Why the “Ride for Purpose”?
947 Telkom Cycling Challenge has created a platform for the public to give back to the society. Ride for a Purpose is an initiative which will enable MES and other NGOs to sustain and expand their services to the community. MES would like to give you the opportunity to be part of this great initiative! For the past 31 years MES has been serving the inner-city. This year’s funds will be allocated to our Hospice, Impilo.
Who am I?
My name is Lenie Venter, I have participated in the 94.7 three times before and in 2014 and 2015 I specifically rode for a purpose - fundraising for MES. Even though I am on the wrong side of 50 I am determined to complete the race and even if I do not I know I have tried. I therefore ask you from my heart to open your hearts to MES and donate to their course. They do wonderful work with the young people of the City of Johannesburg. I have had the privilege to meet some of these young people during my rides for MES and they are truly wonderful young people with loads of potential to make a positive contribution to our country.
