Personal message

My name is Anthea, on the 6th of December 2023 I was diagnosed with Immune Thrombocytopenia Purpura. I'm raising funds for myself. I'm the main breadwinner of my household. I am currently unable to work because of my condition, I am the only employee running the business. My name is Anthea du Plessis, I'm 38 years old and I live in Brits, North West Province.

Firstly, the medication I need to stay alive costs R36000 per month which is still not showing positive results although it's still a bit early to tell. My Internist is refering me to a Haematologist at Pretoria East Hospital which is not covered under one of the network hospitals on my benefit plan, although the doctor I'm being refered to is one of the best blood doctors in South Africa. 

I have been in and out of hospital with many life threatening episodes of where the plateletes in my body goes below 20 and I then run a risk of spontanious bleeding, without platelets in the body nothing will keep you from bleeding out and eventually dying. This is why I need a specialist that can help me to figure out excately what in my body is attacking my platelets. 

I currently have 2 internists that has been fighting to keep me alive since December 2023. It's the third time I'm being admitted to get plalet transfusions which does not help because my body keeps attacking the platelets. Without the correct treatment plan I have a good chance of not making it. It is very important for me to get a doctor that can do intense recearch and tests on me to find a solution for this auto immune disease.

Reaching my goal target will ensure funds for research and medical expenses, as I'm not currently able work and this will enable me to be able to make ends meet and provide for my family and pay for all the medical expenses.

This cause is a life saving and life giving cause. If I can manage to raise the funds and get the neccesary medical treatment that I so desperately need, I would be able to lead a normal life again.

Reaching my target will give me great peace of mind and also hope for a future.

Out of desperation I am turning to each of you and pleading for your support in saving my life.

Funds will mainly be distributed between medical bills and everyday living expenses for as long as I am not able to work.
