Personal message

My name is Megan and I am fundraising for my mother in law, Annamarie.

She is a mom to 4 adult children, a mother in law to 4 and a granny to 4. All the children live overseas. Her husband suffers from Proximal Dystrophy and is unable to work.

Annamarie went into Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA also known as a Diabetic Coma) on Friday 24 November 2023. As she has no medical aid, she was treated briefly at Hillcrest private Hospital and then sent to a government hospital. Conditions there were absolutely shocking! She was left in dirty conditions, with no consideration for her modesty, no food or water and her catheter was left and overflowing onto the bed. She was in and out of consciousness, struggling to breathe and in a critical condition.

Fearing for her life, her children managed to make arrangements for her to be removed and transported to a private hospital, the Ahmed Al Kadi hospital, on Sunday. She has improved but is still in a critical condition in ICU. She still has to come out of the DKA, but also has a chest infection and  urosepsis, and has now started suffering silent seizures.

The children have borrowed as much money as they have been able to, in order to put down a deposit with the hospital. We are desperately trying to raise funds to cover the rising hospital bills so that she can stay at the private hospital and not get sent back to a government hospital where her survival would once again be in jeopardy.

Please, please help this wonderful lady.

Any donation would be so gratefully received and would make such a huge difference! She would be able to continue getting the treatment she so desperately needs.

Annamarie needs our help Campaign

Charity Default Logo

I'm Megan, and I'm raising funds for my mother-in-law, Annamarie, who recently experienced a diabetic coma.

Annamarie, a mother of four adult children with her husband unable to work due to Proximal Dystrophy, faced appalling conditions in a government hospital. Left in filth with no food, water, or proper care, she was in critical condition.

Due to the dire situation, her children arranged to transfer her to Ahmed Al Kadi Hospital, where she remains in critical condition in ICU, battling diabetic coma, a chest infection, urosepsis, and silent seizures. Despite improvements, the mounting hospital bills threaten her stay at the private hospital. We urgently need funds to cover these expenses and ensure she receives the necessary treatment.

Any donation, no matter how small, would greatly impact her recovery and well-being. Your help can make a significant difference for this wonderful lady in her time of need.
