Hey everyone,

I'm Dylan, and I'm reaching out during a challenging chapter in my mom Angela Oochit's life. She's facing a relentless battle against an aggressive form of cancer, and the journey ahead involves a significant move to India for specialized treatment. The treatment plan spans just over 2 months, and I'm relocating from South Africa back to Mauritius to support my mom. As her only child, I'm taking on the responsibility of managing her work, overseeing the house, and caring for her cherished pets, Chloe and Forrest. They are not just animals; they are family, and their yearning for her presence adds to the emotional strain.

2. The Condition:

Angela is confronting an aggressive form of cancer, specifically poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. While the local hospital on the island offers chemotherapy and radiation treatments, the equipment is outdated and lacks the advanced precision required for Angela's specific diagnosis. Without this precision treatment, surrounding normal tissue and organs could be adversely affected. The tumour has already impacted her kidney, necessitating stents to prevent kidney failure. The current public medical infrastructure can't deliver the specialized and urgent care Angela urgently needs.

3. Treatment Options:

Our only hope lies in seeking treatment abroad in India, where a cancer hospital equipped with precision radiation and chemotherapy can provide Angela with the fighting chance she deserves. The island presents a private option, but it's more expensive than opting for India. India, ranked fourth in the world for medical advancements, offers a significantly more advanced approach to treating Angela's condition compared to the current facilities in Mauritius.

The financial burden of international medical treatment is overwhelming, and our goal is to raise 300,000 ZAR (approximately 16,000 USD). This will cover external radiotherapy over five weeks, concurrent weekly Cisplatin, two sessions of Brachytherapy, travel expenses, and eight weeks of accommodation abroad. We are humbly asking for your support to raise money to cover these costs and give Angela the fighting chance she deserves.

Angela, at 51, is not just a patient but a loving mother and a compassionate soul. She's always been there for others in both personal and professional aspects of life. The medical diagnosis is profoundly challenging, and as her only child, balancing responsibilities while being physically distant is an immense task.
