The Tankwa Camino is a 256km - 10 day trek through the harsh but beautiful Karoo. The Red Cross Children's Hospital is an Icon in our society and their incredible work is well documented. Why this cause? Simply as an Advanced Life Support Paramedic working in the inner city of Johannesburg, Kim bears witness daily the tragedy and mayhem involving our children and because of this she believes that it is vital to have a specialized children's hospital to aid in their recovery and healing.
The Children's Hospital Trust/Red Cross Children's Hospital holds a special place in her heart and it's only fitting that while walking through the Cape that she would choose to create awareness for their tireless efforts and raise much needed funds for their ICU unit.
Kim will focus on 10 children and their needs, carrying their photos with her to inspire and remind her of why she is taking part in the Tankwa Camino.
Please note that she is self-funded and therefore paid for all the costs herself by working extra overtime shifts to raise the money. All donations go directly to the CHT.
So who is Kim Williams AKA Adventurekim.com - A Wife, Mother, Public Speaker, Adventurer, Blogger, Ameteur Photographer, ALS Paramedic, Facilitator, Adrenaline Junkie and Activist who loves Mountains, Dogs and Red Fire Engines. She founded The Team Zodwa Project and Adventure with a Purpose (2005) while working on the beat for the City of Johannesburg Fire Department. She works in the inner city slums and squatter camps and grew tired of witnessing babies and children dying of starvation, malnutrition and illness and wanted to make a difference. In 2013 Kim was one of 6 Johnnie Walker Sunday Times Nation's Greatest Hero Finalists to honour her 10 years of community work. In 2015 she formed part of Gift of the Givers SA Rescue Team which assisted in the deadly earthquake in Nepal.
Please support Kim in raising awareness and funds for the Children's Hospital Trust for the upgrading of their important ICU Unit at the Red Cross Children's Hosptial in Cape Town.

The Children's Hospital Trust

A hospital dedicated entirely to children – especially children predominantly from impoverished communities throughout Africa – is critically important. So important, that it needs a champion to make sure that it’s able to keep doing the phenomenal work it does.
That champion is the Children’s Hospital Trust.
