Hi,

My name is Abriella Bredell.

I am 10 years old, and I live in Jeffreys Bay.

My goal is to swim the Robben Island Channel this December in order to raise funds for my favourite charity, The Red Cross Children's Hospital.

My aim is to set the world record for the youngest person to take part in this event.

I am a learner at Victory Christian School in Jeffreys Bay and I have been training at Brenton’s Swim School and Liquid Lines since I was only two years old.

I love swimming because I am a very competitive person and enjoy swimming races against other people and improving my times. I like learning new things, keeping fit and taking care of my body. Swimming does all of the above for me.

I train 6 times a week and love the open water swimming at Marina Martinique in Jeffreys Bay.

My ultimate goal in swimming is to practise hard and to swim the Robben Island Channel with my coach, Brenton Williams. My favourite stroke is butterfly, but I thinks my first Robben Island crossing will be freestyle.

I have started to surf in cold water, so think I will be able to swim Robben Island this December.

The Children's Hospital Trust

A hospital dedicated entirely to children – especially children predominantly from impoverished communities throughout Africa – is critically important. So important, that it needs a champion to make sure that it’s able to keep doing the phenomenal work it does.

That champion is the Children’s Hospital Trust.
