Eita!
And thank you for visiting my fundraising page, themed 94,7km For i-KasiYami! “i-KasiYami”, pronounced “ii kaa-see yaammi” is the slang word meaning “for my township”, an urban living area that was reserved only for non-whites until the end of Apartheid.
Being a born and raised "kasi chick", I know and understand the socio-economic challenges that face many of those living in these communities. So this year I’ve decided to use my newly acquired passion for road cycling and Be A Sport, by Riding For A Purpose in my 2nd 94,7km Cycle Challenge on the 17th November 2013.
Funds raised will go towards maAfrika Tikkun, a non-profit organisation providing education, health and social services to children living in South Africa’s townships. Each cyclist raises funds to "Fill a Tummy" and see how many children they can feed in a year, thus ensuring that the most vulnerable children in South Africa are getting the right nutrition, which is a building block to a happy and productive childhood. Children that attend Afrika Tikkun’s Early Childhood Development Centres are less likely to turn to crime, and are more likely to become productive citizens. This will then have a direct result in overall socio-economic improvement and we will bring about stronger and healthier communities!
It ONLY costs R2280 a year to "fill 2 tummies" at Afrika Tikkun's ECD.
Through your generous support, I therefore intend “filling 10 young tummies” for a year, and thank you in advance for your contribution in raising my target of R11 400!
"SHARP! Sharp!" and Stay blessed,

Afrika Tikkun

Afrika Tikkun (AT) was founded in 1994 with the goal of developing and uplifting young people in disadvantaged communities resident in the Republic of South Africa. With like-minded partners, Afrika Tikkun aims to end child poverty and youth unemployment through a holistic approach that begins in early childhood and ends with productive adults accessing the economy. Our approach provides all-inclusive care (nutrition, health and social) services and helps SA’s youth achieve success with a model called Cradle-to-Career 360°, which has earned Afrika Tikkun recognition for being one of the most impactful organisations in South Africa. We operate from four centres in Gauteng and one in Cape Town.
