The Business Dialog Joins ANDE Campaign
I run (along with 2 partners) an NPO known as The Business Dialog Africa, a start-up that focuses on the development of entrepreneurs and the SMMEs sector of the South African economy. We founded the organisation with the goal of using the power of entrepreneurship to combat socio-economic plights that that plague our society; namely unemployment. We have chosen to work with youth-run businesses, and young citizens looking to turn their skills and aptitudes into viable businesses, to cultivate a youth-centric business ecosystem capable of stimulating job-creation and fighting poverty at all levels.
Looking to build up our capacity, we are looking to join the Aspen Network of Developing Entrepreneurs (ANDE), a "member network of organizations focused on supporting and strengthening small and growing business ecosystems and working to end poverty and promote prosperity through entrepreneurship in developing economies". We were informed that we had made it through the institution's interview phase, and into the Network, however we would need to provide the membership fee (priced in dollars).
I am looking to raise the targeted amount in order to meet the final requirement for our membership (to be paid by the 8th of March). This will aid us in building out the capacity to service our cohorts of students and aspiring entrepreneurs through education (on how to build up the initiative to help our young entrepreneurs), networking opportunities and funding that will go a long way in building the NPO up and subsequently the cohorts of entrepreneurs who will expand our economy going into the future.
For me, it is a passion-project that I was lucky to join, as it helped me not only build up my confidence in doing business, but also taught me the value collaborating with other people if we are to build the economy we would like to see come to fruition. This initiative helps us all become an active participant in serving our nation through action, backed by practical theory that equips all aspiring and current entrepreneurs with necessary tools.
