Help me pay and finish my Degree Campaign

Hello

My name is Shakira Kansiime. I am 21 years old. I live with my mother in Paarl, South Africa, in the Western Cape. I finished matric 2021 and in 2022 I started my tertiary education in Mathematical Sciences at the University of Stellenbosch.

As a person, numbers are my favorite thing. I love numbers and anything that has to do with mathematics. Mathematics has always been my favorite and fun subject; I don’t know why it inspires me so much, maybe just because I have been blessed with a talent for it? My passion for numbers shows in my past and current study results. In my prior years in Secondary School, I have been awarded Certificates of Merit as Top Achiever in several Mathematics related subjects.

In 2023, I completed my second year of study towards a Bachelor of Commerce in Mathematical Sciences at the University of Stellenbosch. I know I want to continue to study mathematics because I love it, and my active goal is to study in an academic environment that in the future will allow me to specialize in either pure or applied mathematics and their subdivisions.

My current situation with fulltime studies has prevented me from working in parallel to save money. Since my Visa in South Africa requires me to study, I fear that I will be sent back to Uganda if I can’t manage to secure the financial means to continue studying. I come from an underprivileged family, and I have been raised by a single mother under difficult financial circumstances, so I cannot expect support from her. Therefore, I am seeking other ways to finance my studies.

As a young woman from an underprivileged family, I face challenges that many others may never have to experience. I face them with confidence, because with challenge comes experience; if I fail, I don’t give up - I try again. I am proud of what I have achieved so far in my life, and I want to assure that if you chose to invest in me and my future, I will work hard to make you proud of me.

The funds raised will be used to pay for my fees at the University of Stellenbosch, and for my private accommodation in Stellenbosch for the year 2024
