The Wheels on the Bus Campaign

I have started this fundraiser with the idea of growing this into a foundation. Although there are so many foundations out there that assist in many ways in the research and treatment of Cancer. I found that what lacks is care and extra attention to the needs of the patient and their families at ground level, especially patients without medical aid or that come from low-income or single parent homes.

My vision is to be able to reach out to other patients and families that do not have the means to either get to their treatments due to transport issues, to be able to assist in easing  other medical needs related to the disease which need to be taken care of between treatments at  provincial hospitals which are so busy that usually patients are seen once a month for a consultations before the chemo treatments.

I would like to help with assisting the family with a cooked meal, for those days when they have been at the chemo centers for most of the day. Deliver food parcels that address the special dietary needs of the patients.

I intend to be able to slowly assist more and more people to get home care during the final days where they patient is able to be surrounded with loved ones, during what is a very daunting time for both families and patients.  

This is the vision I have, and although words don’t come easy at the moment on the topic, due to having lost my son Eric to Rhabdomyosarcoma, I hope that in time I can add my story to here and share my experience. It’s taken 3 years to do this and talk about him without breaking down completely, I hope that as time goes we can build a foundation that can bring warmth and comfort to families fighting the battle that brings with it so much pain,, both physically on the patient and emotionally on the immediate family. I would like to bring some comfort and ease some stress for these families, losing a child to Cancer is one of the toughest journeys any parent can go through. Without wheels no vehicle moves, I have called this fundraiser the wheels on the bus, as I would like to support families traveling this big and most times scary road, by supporting them with the same synergy wheels support vehiccles.
