Operation Honours Campaign
I am a young woman from a small town in the Eastern Cape called Makhanda, formerly known as Grahamstown. I completed my Bachelor of Science degree at Rhodes University. In the last year of my studies, I found out I was pregnant with my now two-year old little boy. It was a huge adjustment but I made the necessary life changes and cracked on. I worked hard and was pleased to have passed my final exams with a newborn on my hip. The whole experience proved to me that I could do whatever I set my mind to! Since completing my undergraduate degree, I have found a love for educating the youth (through teaching and tutoring) about the environment, and how our interactions with each other as well as the environment affect the functioning of our precious planet. In 2023, I made the big decision to apply go back to university, so that I could become more specialised and thus create a better life for myself and my son. I was excited to receive my acceptance letter from UNISA to study a BSc Hons in Environmental Management in 2024. If I am able to raise the funds required to study this year, it would be life-changing for us. Having an honours degree opens up so many more doors career-wise, and I would be relieved to find a stable job in a field that I am passionate about. Funds raised would be used directly to pay for tuition, library access and study material.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate every single bit of help, big or small!
