Drama Club Campaign
My initiative is focused on art and artist development, as well as art therapy in my community. This initiative has been running since May 2023. We've had art exhibitions, mental health and art workshop at our local schools and halls. An Arts Alive Festival partner saw what we were busy with and added our area as one of the venues to have their show at. We started a Drama Club for the young people in our area in an effort to expose them to various forms of art, instill discipline, keep them off the street and create an avenue for them to safely express themselves. I am currently working with 3 certified counselors to assist with the kids. The reason for the funding is to to be able to travel to different communities with a play we have created. This play focuses on how children are affected by GBV. We had our first performance at our local high school on 02 December 2023. Our second performance is on the 09 December 2023 at the Windybrow Art Centre closing ceremony.
Though most of the expenses are funded by myself, with the help of friends and family, it is becoming more strenuous.
This crowd funding effort will help us take our story to many communities and help young ones and adults understand the trauma violence has on the psyche of all parties, especially the children!
