The Daily News Milk and Welfare Fund
The DNMF is 77 years old and was established by members of the Daily News newspaper to give something back to underprivileged children every Christmas. It has since developed into a scheme which now feeds 13 000 children every school day and supports 74 crèches and schools. Children we feed are aged from 0 to 8 years old. We supply powdered full cream milk and high energy porridge every two months to our 74 registered organisations.
Funding in these times is extremely difficult and with our partnership with the Daily News we call weekly for donations from readers of the newspaper. The Daily News also publicises all of our fund raising initiatives. We do not receive any funding from the Daily News but they do cover a salary of one dedicated staff member and our offices are in their building (rent free). Every cent that is donated is used to feed children – there are no administration costs at all.
