Help Siyabonga pay outstanding fees Campaign

Allow me to introduce myself, coming from a unique background and a community with limited resources and opportunities. I am Siyabonga Makhubo , a resilient and determined individual who has defied all odds to pursue my dreams. Growing up in Jabulani in Soweto, a community marked by poverty and limited access to quality education, presented numerous challenges. However, these circumstances never deterred me from striving for excellence. Despite facing financial hardships and being labeled as "less privileged,"

Coming from a community where opportunities were scarce and economic hardship prevailed, pursuing higher education at the University of the Witwatersrand was not just a dream, but a beacon of hope for me. Growing up in a less privileged background, my family faced numerous challenges(which one of them both of my parents being unemployed and my mother being retrenched during Covid ), and the prospect of attending university seemed like an unattainable feat. However, I refused to let my circumstances define me. Despite the odds, I sought out scholarships, financial aid, and mentorship programs to make my aspirations a reality. It is within this context of adversity that I embarked on my journey to Wits, knowing that education would be the key to breaking free from the cycle of poverty and making a difference in my community

I am currently a student at Witswatersrand University , pursuing a degree in BSc in Construction studies. I also playing Rugby for the university.Unfortunately, I find myself facing a challenging circumstance. Due to unforeseen financial difficulties, I am unable to pay my university fees, which has put me at risk of being unable to continue my education and complete my degree. My Funding didn’t pay fees which have left me in debt and also unable to register for 2024.

Writing this letter wasn’t easy for me, as I have always been a goal driven, hardworking person who aspires to fulfil my responsibilities and ensure a bright future for myself. However, sometimes life throws us unexpected curveballs, and in this case, I am, unfortunately, unable to shoulder this burden alone.

Understanding that there might be limitations in fulfilling these requests, I have taken the initiative to set up a Backabuddy fund to try and gather support from friends, family, and kind-hearted individuals who are willing to help me overcome this temporary hurdle. By creating an online platform where donors can contribute to my unpaid university fees, I hope to collect the necessary funds and resume my studies.

For me, education is not just about obtaining a certificate. It represents an opportunity to gain knowledge, discover my true potential, and make a positive impact in society.
