Help Get A Family Out Of Gaza Campaign

Dear Friends,

I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart as I share the harrowing story of something that is very close to my soul; of my very close friend and his family, who are currently caught in the midst of the Gaza war for more than 3, excruciating, months. They endure the aftermath of wars relatively often and they always have to rebuild anew, however, this is the most extreme they have faced in a very long time. Recently, their home has been subjected to bombings and gunfire, forcing them to endure unimaginable horrors as they lay in hiding. They had to flee for their lives, walking 5 kilometers to the Rafah border with only a handful of essentials, dropping food along the way as they could not stop or slow down due to the gunfire surrounding them if they did.

Now residing in a refugee camp, they find themselves sleeping on the cold, hard floor of makeshift tents, lacking sufficient warm clothing and struggling to find affordable food as everything has become scarce and/or extremely expensive.

The living conditions they endure in Gaza are nothing short of horrific—lack of clean water, frequent food poisoning, no access to medication, no electricity, inadequate bathroom facilities, and a daily struggle to find firewood for basic necessities. Their hope for survival is dwindling, and the situation is becoming increasingly unlivable.

My friend is the eldest son of eight siblings, with four sisters working in healthcare (one a doctor, another a nurse, one on the path to becoming a nurse, and the youngest still in school). His brothers are also pursuing careers in healthcare. They are a resilient and tight-knit family, determined to overcome the challenges they face.

I, like many others, am feeling incredibly helpless as all I have been able to do is hear the horrific stories they are enduring. I am wanting to make a difference and help where I can, so, I am initiating this BackaBuddy fundraiser to offer them a chance at a better and safer life. The funds raised will enable them to leave the turmoil in Gaza and start anew in a different country, free from the constant fear of impending wars. The money will cover essential expenses such as flights, accommodation, and initial living costs as they establish themselves in a new environment.

Your contribution will directly impact eight lives, empowering this family to escape the cycle of violence and instability. Not only will they be able to secure their own future, but they will also continue making valuable contributions to the healthcare system in their new home.
