New Car to Save a Small Business Campaign

Upi, a small business owner, husband, and father to three boys, has had his carpet cleaning business brought to a standstill with the irreparable breakdown of his work vehicle. 

We are raising funds with the goal of purchasing a suitable second hand car to get Upi's business back on the road - servicing clients across Cape Town - and bring financial safety, security, and opportunity back to this humble, hardworking Zimbabwean family. 

In 2018, Upi founded Xquisite Carpet Cleaning Services with the goal of building a thriving business that could support his family and ensure a quality education for his boys, aged 3, 14, and 18.

Since then, Upi has impressed clients across Cape Town with his exceptional service, positive attitude, relentless work ethic, and amazing results. Unfortunately, in November of 2023, his car's engine collapsed, bringing his business to a halt and shaking the foundation of his family's financial stability.

Upi has been determined to keep Xquisite going, depending on Ubers, taxis, and borrowed vehicles, spending 20-25% of his earnings on transportation. However, his capacity to deliver his services has become severely impacted, requiring him to pick up part-time work as a coffee barista at a local popup coffee stand.

A professional inspection has confirmed that Upi’s car cannot be repaired. We have researched widely and found that a reliable secondhand vehicle, capable of supporting Xquisite for years to come, will cost upwards of R35,000.

We are asking those with the means to help to contribute what they can, so we can gift Upi the wheels he needs to continue delivering his services and grow his small business. 

As the primary breadwinner, this not only ensures a stable income for his family but also alleviates the financial burden of sending his boys to school - one starting pre-primary, another in Grade 8, and the eldest set to attend university in 2025.
