Dog Rescues in Johannesburg Campaign

My birthday is in January but honestly, I need no gifts. The greatest gift for me is to help animals. My sister, Jenny, is doing just that in Johannesburg. She devotes her time and money to rescuing dogs from awful situations and rehoming them where she can. Many times there are just no homes and she has over a dozen dogs in her care.

Currently, (pardon the pun) there are rolling blackouts in Johannesburg and she is living on generated power. Along with these difficulties is the rise in the cost of living and she is under enormous pressure.

She pays a lot of vet fees because most dogs need a lot of help by the time she gets to them.  Sometimes it is a matter of letting them have their last days with her in a comfortable, safe and loving environment, before they die.

She has had many success stories too.  A lot of these dogs have been trained to give love and support to people in hospitals. They go and get hugs and pats from patients, who, in turn, benefit from having a moment with a happy, loving and simply gorgeous dog.  How are dogs so forgiving?

I have shown just 3 of the lucky doggies she has rescued, paid vet fees for and carefully researched each home to make sure the dogs will be properly cared for a loved as a family member.

1. The Spaniel was almost blind when rescued but with the help of the vet and eye drops, she was able to see again. It took a while to put on weight but finally she found a happy home and has her own special chair.

2. Boyo has an autoimmune issue requiring ongoing vet visits and medication. He too has found a loving home and is thriving.

3. Mr Puggles was given up when his humans were unable to care for him.  He found a home in many people's hearts. His furever home was with a family who discovered he loved learning tricks and he has become a well photographed and much adored character in the area.

As you can see, Jenny makes sure the dogs end up with the best family who will give each dog the attention they need: whether it is all action (like Mr Puggles) or just lots of love, peace and safety.

If you could donate some Aussie dollars, this will turn into a lot of South African money which will help her and make my day!

My most humble gratitude to all donations.
