University Funding Appeal Campaign

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Rishen Moodley, and I am writing to you with great hope and respect to appeal for support in funding my university education.

I recently received my final results from the Independent Examinations Board (IEB), and I am proud to share that I was the top achiever at my school, securing a full house of seven distinctions. This academic achievement has paved the way for my final acceptance into the University of Cape Town (UCT) to study Actuarial Science, a field I am deeply passionate about. However, I am facing a significant hurdle that threatens to impede this dream - funding. My parents, despite their best efforts, are financially incapable of supporting my tertiary education. This is not a new challenge for me; throughout high school, my education was made possible through a 100% scholarship, for which I am eternally grateful. The scholarship not only allowed me to excel academically but also instilled in me the value of generous support and the profound impact it can have on someone’s life.

I am sincerely reaching out to you, because I believe in the power of education and the doors it can open for individuals like myself. Your assistance in funding my university education would not only transform my future but also enable me to give back to the community. My aspiration is to establish scholarships for underprivileged students in the future, as I deeply understand the importance of external support and the difference it can make.

In addition, recognizing the pervasive impact of financial instability in my community, I aspire to use my degree to address this challenge through The Fundi Foundation, a scholarship initiative stemming from my personal experience with Ruta Sechaba. Having been fortunate to receive a 100% scholarship throughout my high school years, I understand the limitations of available slots and the struggles faced by those without such opportunities. Aspiring to be a philanthropist post-actuarial success, I aim to establish The Fundi Foundation, dubbed from my status as fundi in all my subjects, providing financial relief to diverse students, considering academic prowess or athletic achievements.

I am more than willing to provide any additional information or documentation that you might require for your consideration. This funding opportunity from you would be more than a financial aid; it would be a catalyst that enables me to turn my dreams into reality and, in turn, help others achieve theirs.
