Noah Nurturing Orphans of AIDS
Our model is one that establishes individual community-based organisations (CBOs) wherein we offer guidance to motivated and caring individuals from the community to set up their own network of compassionate people. We equip these individuals with the skills and confidence to care for their orphaned and vulnerable children.
Currently Noah caters for over 5 500 orphans and vulnerable children and is established in 23 communities in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. We have provided 185 committee members and 139 volunteers with training and skills. Our Resource Centres accommodate day-care and aftercare programmes and provide these children with a fully balanced meal 5 days a week. Other services provided to the children include bereavement counselling, registration with the Departments of Social Development and Home Affairs for assistance with applying for birth certificates and government grants.
Through Noah it is hoped that these children will be encouraged to stay in school and lead productive and active lives. Noah educats them in the perils of dangerous behaviours and not to repeat the cycle of the past. This will secure a brighter, stronger and productive future not only for these children but for South Africa as a whole.
