Danilo is a prem baby, born at 30 weeks gestational age and celebrated his second birthday in December 2023.  He has been hospitalized 10 times since birth.  At the end of October 2023, he was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome.  It is often caused by damage to small blood vessels in the kidneys that filter waste and excess water from the blood.  It can last for years or be lifelong.  It requires a lot of appointments with Doctors/Specialists and a very personalized treatment plan.  Danilo is also required to go for a lot of tests, done locally and internationally which is not fully covered by the Medical Aid Scheme.  His treatment ranges from vitamin supplements, post kidney transplant medication as well as P/B Medication.  Despite everything that he has been through, he is the happiest little boy under son.
