Young Rylan Lemmetuis Campaign

Rylan Lemmetuis is a 12 year old young musician from Mossel Bay. He's an aspiring broadway musician and is currently playing Kurt Von Trapp in the "World's most loved musical" The Sound of Music at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town. He was chosen to play this role during a gruesome two day audition process in June 2023 where over 200 hopefuls were eliminated. 

 

He was also selected in October to represent South Africa at WCOPA (World Championships of the Performing Arts)in Los Angeles, California in June 2024. This international competition is often cited as the Official “Talent Olympics” for aspiring performers and entertainers.  Selections for official contestants are being held in the USA, Canada, Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, Asia and South Africa. Highlights of the event will include a Parade of Nations, a Worldstars Boot camp and a global webcast where the Grand Champions of the World will be selected.  The numerous winners walk away with over a quarter of a million dollars in scholarships and prizes.  An opportunity like this comes to a very special few in South Africa.  As “Hollywood” is the entertainment capital of the world, the competitors to the WCOPA must be the Best of the Best as the judges are from the entertainment industry. This is such a great opportunity for Rylan to get noticed and win a big contract or scholarship. The opportunities are endless. 

 

His parents covered all his traveling and competition expenses up until now, however this championship is much more expensive as everything is included and flight tickets can't be bought separately and participants are not allowed to stay in a different hotel as team SA. Also, Rylan can't attend the competition alone as he is a minor (competition rules), therefore his mother has to accompany him which means the expenses will be double.
