Hi my name is Mpho Maruma I am a 35 year old woman married to a a wonderful supportive husband with two beautiful children. Life has Lead me down a dark path I’ve survived child molestation, violent rape while pregnant in my twenties, the sudden death of my mother, betrayal of my brother and family, living with bipolar and depression disorder from age 9 and finally living with fibromyalgia which is not recognized in South Africa as a real illness so it is difficult to get treatment, I survived homelessness with a baby, attempted high Jack, attempted murder a stroke, mental breakdown and became an alcoholic, I actually drank like a fish my entire pregnancy with my second child and went to rehab 4 times and eventually reached a point where I thought I cannot do it anymore. I have considered suicide so many times and I eventually dropped the ball and drank a whole bottle of dopaquel which is a medicine to treat bipolar disorder and schizophrenia in front of my two children and told them mommy wants to die and said my goodbyes. I was in a coma for almost 3 weeks fighting for my life attached to breathing machines no one thought I’d make it, the whole time my husband said I was mumbling after I woke up saying I was having conversations with my mom and that she was sitting with me the whole time. I eventually woke up best of all with no brain damage. I do believe I crossed over to the other side and my mom fought for me to come back and raise my daughters. I was discharged a few days before Christmas and I went to stay with my in-laws the love and care I received made me realize that I’m not alone and that I’m still young and must find coping mechanisms no matter how difficult it is. My conditions don’t allow me to get a job and finances are difficult we get by from family contributions. I learned how to make soaps, candles, lotions, and other beauty products on my own and I’d love to get back to that and sell them to make an incom. I’ll need money to start by buying supplies, creating logos, camera equipment to shoot for YouTube, instagram and TikTok etc for advertising, editing software, money to pay for rental space to make these products etc and I also need to raise money to pay my medical bills, pay off loans, pay off debts that my brother caused by running my parents businesses into the ground, school fees for my children as well as for ongoing treatment for fibromyalgia and bipolar.
