Hello, everyone! My name is Mitchelle Maphakela, and I am thrilled to share that I have been accepted into the Masters in Clinical Social Work program at the University of Johannesburg. This program offers a specialized focus on mental health, which aligns perfectly with my passion for social work and my desire to make a difference in the lives of individuals struggling with mental illnesses.

I am a hardworking, diligent, and inspired young lady who believes in the power of education and its ability to transform lives. Throughout my academic journey, I have continuously passed and achieved my academic goals and beyond. I have consistently demonstrated my commitment to excellence and have surpassed my academic goals, striving for nothing less than my personal best.

Looking at that, I was part of the Ujenious Club, a club of top achieving students at the University of Johannesburg. This recognition not only reflects my academic capabilities but also showcases my unwavering work ethic and determination to succeed.

Additionally, I have formed part of the Faculty's Dean's List, which is consolidated of top achieving students in the Faculty of Humanities at the aforementioned institution. This accomplishment has reinforced my belief in the importance of academic excellence and has motivated me to continue pushing my boundaries.

One of my proudest achievements is achieving my undergraduate degree in record time. This milestone not only highlights my ability to manage my time effectively but also speaks to my resilience and perseverance in the face of challenges. It has been a testament to my unwavering dedication to my studies and my unwavering pursuit of knowledge.

I am from a disadvantaged background, growing up in a town filled with many social ills. Despite the obstacles I faced, I was able to stand out and fight for my future. Experiencing the death of both parents at a younger age and losing my twin brother has left me burdened and emotionally stained. However, these experiences have also formed one of the reasons why I wanted to be a social worker and bridge the gap between better opportunities and living conditions for those marginalized and emotionally hurt.

I am passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of individuals struggling with mental illnesses. Pursuing a Masters in Clinical Social Work is not only a professional growth opportunity for me but also a chance to shape the world, shape the community, and help those in need. I believe in creating a brighter future where individuals struggling with mental health receive the care and support they deserve.

However, the financial burden associated with pursuing a master's degree poses a significant challenge for me. Despite my best efforts to secure scholarships and work part-time jobs, I still need assistance in covering the registration fees for the program. This is why I am reaching out to you, the community, for support.
