Midnight Energy started as a vision to bring quality media content to the local alternative music scene (indie, rock, metal, hardcore, prog, etc). Co-Founded by Zainab Hoseini & Sean Gaisford, we offer various services ranging from event coverage, post-production, photography (digital & analog) & music videos. Our goal is to bring the local scene to the international landscape in hopes to promote its culture and future development.

In 2023, we created a mini-documentary that highlighted the African metal scene and the community it forms part of (musicians, fans, artists, promoters etc) as part of the Wacken Metal Battle. This year, in collaboration with Emalyth, Wacken Metal Battle, Metal4Africa & Not Russell Crow Productions, we plan to transform this documentary into a feature-length rendition to share with the rest of the world and showcase the African alternative scene in the best light possible.

The funding for this project is crucial to its success and we need the resources necessary to bring the project to life and ensure that it gets off the ground. If we are able to raise the necessary funding then we can ensure that the film reaches its maximum quality in terms of production quality and packaging. With plans to distribute the finished product to film festivals too, we hope it will help the African metal community gain more recognition & success.

The funds will be used to cover production expenses (gear, transport, accommodation, licensing fees, post-production, distribution) in accordance with standard industry costings. We will officially begin production in February 2024 and plan to release the film in early 2025 (depending on its progression).

We will also be hosting a collaboration with No Reason Clothing & Emalyth Events at each Wacken heat in SA (Feb - Apr) where the highest donors of the evening will receive a special prize hamper for their contributions. The highest donor of April will receive a special prize to be announced at the Wacken Metal Battle finals in Johannesburg.
