Xena Jack Russell needs to smile ag Campaign
I rescued my dear Jack Russell Xena a year ago from a horrific 2 years tied to a pole since she was a puppy. She literally 'grew' into the cable / rope around her neck.Since 16 Feb last year a brand new chapter started in her life. Promising her she will never ever be afraid or neglected. And I stick to the promise I've made.
Running around with her 2 friends, both bassets and playing day in and day out has been her year with me, snuggling behind ny back every night. Safe. Loved.
17 Feb she came to me as I drove up the driveway. Ears flat and could see she is in pain. It was clear something was wrong with her jaw. Being a Jack Russell sticking her nose in everywhere in holes, it seemed that an insect stung her on her cheek. We treated her with medication and it seemed to help but the morning of 19 Feb her jaw couldn't open. Swollen and painful.
I took her to her vet and he recommended sedation to assess the sting or injury - medical term they use is 'lock jaw' that could be a a bacterial infection.
3 hours later I received a call. The vet needs to speak to me with regards to treatment. As I drove to the vet I could feel this is much more serious... The vet sat me down and broke the n
ews. Xena had a very bad impact on her jaw that 3 teeth burst on impact and cracked the jawbone. My whole world turned upside down. There was my baby lying sedated...I broke down in tears and dropped to my knees. This incident could only have been through the landlords garden services that cleans every Friday.
After numerous x-rays, consulting with other specialists, thr treatment plan involves removing the impacted, repairing the cracked jaw and re-aligning the jaw. They also need to remove the splintered bone from the jaw. She will be in hospital for atleast 2 weeks. A feeding tube will be inserted through her neck. She is not allowed to open her jaw more than approx 5mm.
An estimate of hospitalization and the procedure will approximately be R15 000.
The vet agreed that the amount can be settled on discharge. I have 14 days to raise the funds.
Please help Xena through this journey. Your generous contribution can assist her with all her medical expenses and rehabilitation.
The vet practice is Garsfontein Animal Hospital under Dr Jano. Contributions can be made direct to the vet or through 'backabuddy'.
Please feel free to contact me for more information.
We appreciate every cent towards Xena's healing journey.
