Project Wire Flowers Campaign

Sidney stands in the searing African heat every weekend, selling wire flowers at the traffic light. His dream is to have a stall at the market, but he's struggling to raise the initial funds.

I met Sidney at his usual spot where he stands on weekends and decided to make a short film about his story. He is such a friendly guy and it's so easy to strike up a conversation with him, so we got along splendid.

He was born in Zimbabwe, but came to South Africa over 7 years ago to look for a better life. He finally settled in George where I got to know him as the guy selling flowers in the local pub where I worked.

To make his dream of starting his own business a reality, he needs roughly R10 000 ($). The amazing thing is that he wants to buy art from different unemployed artists and sell them at a stall at the market (Outeniqua Family Market in George is the goal) because he knows how combining different artists, with different mediums can attract customers (he's honestly got a great business brain if you ask me).

The art will include animals and flowers made from wire, wood, stone, beads etc. and he even wants to make trips to Zimbabwe to support the artists back home.

To learn more about this beautiful person, feel free to check out the video that I made about his story:

Thank you for reading and I hope to gather mass support for Sidney.
