SA Underwaterhockey Campaign

Hi Everyone

We are the parents of a very determined sports-driven daughter, Lienke.

Lienke is 17 years old, a grade 12 learner at a high school in the Boland.

Those who know Lienke are aware of her passion for sports.  She has always eagerly grabbed opportunities to play sports. From netball, hockey and indoor netball to swimming, lifesaving and underwater hockey. Her passion for underwater hockey started when she was in grade 5. She has represented the Boland team at the South African National Championships since 2019, when she was recognised as Ambassador of the Year. In 2021 she was named the Best u/15 Player of the Tournament, a testament to her dedication to the sport and her exceptional drive for self-improvement. Above all, Lienke is a supportive teammate who encourages and uplifts her fellow players, rejoicing in their successes.

In January 2024, she was selected to represent South Africa’s u/19 team that will be participating in the Underwater Hockey World Championship in Malaysia in July this year. The tour is self-funded, costing R50 000 in total for plane ticket, clothes, extra practices, accommodation and travel. They will depart on the 14th of July and return on the 28th of July 2024.

We are therefore asking you to help us, help Lienke financially on her journey to fulfill her dream.  Any contribution is greatly appreciated. We are confident that she will perform admirably and give her all during the tournament. Any funds raised above the target, she plans to contribute to the rest of the team.
