Lets get Garnett to Turkey Campaign
My 82 year old uncle Garnett has just recently been selected to represent Tennis South Africa at the Masters World Team Championships in Turkey in March 2024! He has been playing tennis for over 60 years.
He is well known in his hometown, Oudtshoorn, as the previous Editor of the community newspaper but most people know him as Meester Garnett, the great tennis player. My uncle wakes up every morning at the crack of dawn to practice at his local tennis club. He is extremely passionate about the sport. He is very fit and active, and has also already completed over 100 parkruns.
He has previously been invited to participate as part of the SA Super Seniors Team in the World Championships in Orlando and Croatia. Unfortunately he only received a tracksuit as there are no sponsorships made available and we heavily relied on family and friends to help make this dream come true. He plays an instrumental part in so many peoples lives as uncle, father figure and friend. He is just such a real inspiration.
His wife, Maureen, who has always been a great pillar of strength, supporter and enthusiast of his game, suffered a stroke in 2015. The ongoing medical bills and rehabilitation costs have been financially taxing on the family. We know that she is so proud of him.
He is so thrilled to have been selected to represent his country, and we trust that he will do really well. This is such an honour.
