Killarney Marshals Fundraiser Campaign
I have been part of Killarney my whole life and a Marshal myself. My parents were Marshals back in the day and that is how they met, and it is due to them that I also became a Marshal many moons ago. I have now gone on and become an Official, but the Marshals at Killarney are still very close to my heart and that is why I am starting this fundraiser.
It has come to my attention that the true heroes of Killarney cannot have their Annual Prize Giving due to lack of funds and these brave Men and Women deserve to honour their own and award those who did an outstanding job during last year.
They ensured that all the competitors were kept safe, not only on their home track at Killarney, but also for three International Events that took place in the Western Cape last year namely the Formula E event, the FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations event and the World RallyX.
I am now reaching out to all Competitors, spectators and Motorsport lovers to help me in achieving the goal for these unsung Heroes of the Track by opening our hearts and our wallets (every little bit helps, no matter how big or how small the donation) so that they have the best night of their lives and receive the honour that they deserver for all their hard work.
I would also like to challenge each and every person reading this post to pop in at Turn 6 (the Marshal’s chill zone, at the exit of the old Pits) after an event and come and meet the faces behind the orange blur that you go past when you are tearing down the circuit and having the time of your life. Spend some time with them and have a cold one, it would mean the world to them if the people that they look out for during all weather conditions come and have a chat to them.
When I mean all weather conditions, I mean even the worst of days…whether it be rain, sun, storms, wind, they are there standing out in that just to ensure that the event goes on. Without these wonderful people there would be no events at Killarney.
So let us all stand together and make their dream come true.
Please have a look at their website and Facebook group to see what these wonderful people have been up to.
