Breast Cancer Journey of Nicky Campaign
Good day everyone,
On 13 November 2023 my mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. My mom’s
name is Nicky Bowman, she is 42 years old and is from Mbombela, Mpumalanga.
My mom noticed and felt changes in her breasts for a while and, like many other women, shied away from going to the doctor. September 23, she took the step to seek medical advice... and her fear was confirmed.
This last 2 years has been a rollercoaster as she lost her job in covid time and fell pregnant again after she married her husband. She became a mother again to my baby brother. He is now two years old and the fourth addition to my mom’s family. To add to my mom’s grief, my grandmother suddenly passed away of a heart attack on February 10, 2023.
Unfortunately, my mom does not have access to private medicine and is currently part of many other patients who have been left at the mercy of the state. We all know the procedures... wait... wait... and wait again.
One of the most Critical scans is a diagnostic CT scan (R17500.00 at a private hospital) that must be done before they can start with any treatment plans. The soonest appointment she could get at the State hospital is only in April 2024. This is just the beginning of a long road of procedures.
My mom is staying positive but bills are piling up, every bit helps. What can we do to help? Open your heart and make a donation to start filling this empty bucket. Our aim is to raise R50 000 for the first 6 months to help with costs. This cost includes all medical procedures requested outside the government hospital and any other costs regarding the cancer journey. All medical procedures requested outside the government hospital (purely aimed at speeding up her treatment process) will be paid directly to the hospital where they are performed.
Thank you, much appreciated
