Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre
Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre is a full-time residential place of safety and protection for 65 children made vulnerable through circumstances of abuse, abandonment, neglect and being orphaned. We have been delivering holistic care and protection for children since inception in 1907.
Ethelbert CYCC is not an orphanage – the majority of the children placed here do have parents and our ultimate goal is to see the children reunited with their parents through successful reunification processes. All placements are made via the judicial system - we therefore we work in conjunction with the Department of Social Development to ensure that, if possible, our children are placed back with their families or in loving homes.
At Ethelbert CYCC, our main priority is to break the cycle of abuse and restore hope to the children in our care. This is achieved by providing our children with a comprehensive package of child care services that meet their physical, emotional and psycho-social needs. These include, but are not limited to, food and clothing; education; healthcare; mental and physical wellness - all to promote natural development outcomes for each child and level the playing field between them and their peers. This is also achieved through community integration where our children attend local schools, churches and social ministries.
As an NPO, we rely on the generosity and support of corporates, businesses and individuals to sustain the work we do for the children placed in our care. We therefore welcome the opportunity to forge funding partnerships to create meaningful change.
