Robbery Recovery Campaign
My name is Ethan Codron, a third-year engineering student at the University of the Free State. Recently, we went on a trip to Johannesburg, only to be phoned twice with some disturbing news regarding robberies.
Among the items stolen from my father were several jackets, some from overseas, jerseys, running clothes, pyjamas, medicines, and several sentimental items, including an old R10 note I won at a quiz when I was five years old, and a yoga bag my mother had bought him a couple of years ago to help pursue his exercise goals. The burglar also seemed to have enjoyed a nice meal, with blankets laid out on the floor in the kitchen and all the food gone from the refrigerator.
No amount of money can repair the emotional damages my father incurred during this break-in - he could not even defend the flat as we were away, and the items of close sentimental value may never be recovered. He lost several thousands of Rands worth of clothing and supplies, which is the main goal this fundraiser is trying to aim for.
My father took us on a very nice trip, nothing lavish or exotic, but made the most out of what he had to give us, and we made some pretty great memories. He does not deserve to suffer the consequences of some random burglar who thought the place belonged to them, after treating his family to a short but fun-packed vacation. I am not asking for much, only that we all come together and help him recover most of the basics he lost - food, medicines, clothes, the likes.
Thank you for taking the time to read this campaign. Any amount you can spare will go a long way to helping this man.
