England Cricket Johannes Goosen Campaign
Dear friends,
This is the journey of a young boy, now a gifted teenager, to chase a dream and follow his passion for Cricket. Not only as a school sport, but beyond.
I started this campaign to help fulfil Johannes' cricket dream. Johannes is in grade 10 at Hoërskool Boland Landbou.
He has been selected into the High School's cricket group that will tour England during the school holidays in June 2024. This is a unique opportunity that will not only enrich his cricket career but take him closer to living his dream and achieving his ultimate goals.
Sport has always taken a central place in Johannes' life. Now at 15 he pushes and challenges himself to give every bit of himself whenever out on the field, whether to bat or be a wicket keeper. His focus and determination are inspiring.
So, when an opportunity comes along to chase his dream, it is not only my responsibility, but also my privilege to help him achieve this dream.
His greatest achievement was without a doubt in grade 7 when he scored 231 runs from just 76 balls (not out) against Swartland Primary School, securing a magnificent win and victory for his team and school.
The outcome of his performance was stellar with 9 x 4s and 28 x 6s that day and took 2 x catches on the day. He also received the Roux Cup that year for the best academic and sports performance from Hugo Rust Primary School.
He plays wicket keeper and has proven to be a capable and gifted one. He was selected in 2021 for the Boland Central cricket team, where he also played wicket keeper for the team. At High School he played wicket keeper for both the 0/14A and for the 0/15A in grade 8.
Johannes is a humble, dedicated, and hard-working young man with drive and determination, who excels on the sports field as well as academically.
Currently, he has been selected to play for his schools under 19’s second team, which is a great honor for him, being only 15.
He is excited, focused and looking forward to the new season ahead. Ready to take on all the challenges that comes with it to get him closer to living his dream.
The touring team plans to play 6 matches during the tour. They will also have the privilege of visiting the Lord's Cricket grounds and attending a net session there. Cities the touring team will visit include the Midlands, London and Cambridge.
Tour dates: 22 June to 4 July 2024.
Thank you very much.
