Evacuate Dr Oday From Gaza Campaign

My name is Dr Saffia Jacobs from Johannesburg, South Africa.
I am a medical doctor, humanitarian and activist fighting for the basic human rights of the people of Palestine. I am also the founder of wear4palestine, a non-profit initiative selling Palestine merchandise to raise funds for Palestine.

Through my global reach on social media, Dr Oday Abu Rukba has been communicating with me regarding the atrocities and devastation the people of Gaza are facing.

Their situation is unfathomable.
Not only have they been subjected to continuous bombardment by the IOF but they have also been starved, displaced from their homes with the lack of drinkable water, no electricity, no access to health care and have been stripped of every basic human right!

Currently, there are 1.5 million civilians displaced in Rafah (South of Gaza)
While we cannot help all 1.5 million I have decided to raise funds to help Dr Oday and his family to evacuate Gaza and hopefully once our target has been reached I can begin assisting another family.

They have been pushed to the end of the Gaza Strip along the border of Egypt with nowhere left to go. Gaza has become uninhabitable and the only way for them to have any chance of surviving this genocide and building a future is to evacuate.
Unfortunately this comes at a massive cost. The Egyptians are charging $5000 per adult in order to be evacuated. They have lost EVERYTHING and couldn’t possibly afford to pay for evacuation.

Dr Oday qualified as a medical doctor 2 years ago and is unable to get a job in Gaza due to the current turmoil, economic instability & destruction of almost all healthcare facilities!
He is 27 years old and a driven, kind hearted, passionate young doctor who has been volunteering his time and services at Al Aqsa Hospital. Like many others in Gaza, he has a bright future ahead of him and deserves the right to live his dream of serving humanity as a specialist diagnostic radiologist.

In addition to the above, he suffers from MCD Nephrotic Syndrome, a kidney disease for which he requires treatment with a biological agent called Rituximab which is not available in Gaza due to lack of medication. It costs roughly $1000 per dose & he requires 4 doses for the next cycle nexg month.
Helping him to evacuate Gaza will also allow him to gain access to the necessary healthcare to prevent his kidneys from going into failure.

He is currently living in a tent with his family that consists of his mother Soha who is a breast cancer survivor in remission, requiring regular follow up scans and treatment with Letrozole to prevent recurrence of the cancer. Again, they are unable to access this in Gaza. Other members of his family residing with Dr Oday include his father Zakaria, his brother Amr, wife Abeer & their 2 kids Zakaria and Solaf (newborn), his brother Abdulrahman, wife Alaa & child Noor, brother Mohammed (25) and sisters Lama (17) and Lona (15).

I thank you for taking the time to read this and would greatly appreciate your support.
I am certain that we as South Africans can come together to assist Dr Oday & his family and many others in evacuating these inhumane and brutal living conditions.
Remember that no contribution is too small, every drop in the ocean counts!

All funds will be sent directly to Egypt via Western Union Transfer to a close colleague of Dr Oday’s who will ensure that the funds reach him in Gaza to allow for evacuation.

Please feel free to email me should you require any further clarity or information [email protected]
I am in regular contact with Dr Oday via WhatsApp and am more than willing to answer any questions.

In honor of my Lebanese father who passed in September. He would be devastated to see the pain and suffering inflicted by Israel onto Palestinian humans. In honor of Jo-Jo. God bless this money and make it multiply to help families evacuate to safety
