Aid Dr Afonso Journey Please Campaign

Hi, my name is Daniela Afonso. I am a fourth-year medical student at the University of Witwatersrand, and I am reaching out to you with a humble request.

From a young age, I have dreamt of becoming a doctor, driven by the desire to make a meaningful impact on people's lives. Despite facing many challenges and setbacks along the way, I have remained steadfast in my pursuit of this goal. My journey through academia has been one of dedication, resilience, and a commitment to serving others.

My education has provided me with a solid foundation, but I aspire to further my studies and specialize in clinical medicine. My parents blessed me with the opportunity to study all the way through to my honours, however, now - with another sibling to still put through school and university - the financial expense is too much for them. It is for this reason, that I have decided to take a loan and/or try pay my own medical school fees. 

However, the cost of medical school is not cheap, and the financial burden of tuition fees and associated expenses weighs heavily on me. With a debt of R97 000 for my first year, a current bill of R100000 for this year alone, and two more years of study ahead. I find myself in need of support to continue my educational journey.

I am immensely grateful for the opportunities I have been given and the progress that I have made thus far. With your assistance, I am confident that I can overcome this obstacle and achieve my aspirations. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in helping me reach my goal.
