Conservation Lake Tanganyika

This November, 14 intrepid swimmers will be braving crocodiles, hippo’s, malaria and warm beer by swimming across Lake Tanganyika in an effort to raise funds for Conservation Lake Tanganyika, and especially the Nsumbu National Park which is located on it’s shores. These crazy but passionate swimmers, also known as Team Tanganyika will be swimming ACROSS LAKE TANGANYIKA from the Tanzanian coastline, all the way to Nangu headland in Nsumbu National Park, on 8 November, a distance of 40kms, in only ONE DAY!.

All funds raised by Team Tanganyika will go to Conservation Lake Tanganyika (CLT) which was founded due to an almost complete lack of any government or other NGO support for resource protection of Lake Tanganyika and specifically the Nsumbu National Park where CLT focus’s its efforts, which is currently under huge threats from illegal fishing and poaching.

CLT is dedicated to promoting and preserving the biodiversity of Lake Tanganyika, an ecosystem that is more diverse than the rainforests and provides food to an estimated 10 million people on a daily basis.

Team Tanganyika is hoping that by undertaking and hopefully completing this swim, they can help to bring much needed exposure and financial assiatnce to this beautiful piece of Africa. If you think we can succeed with our goal, please help us out by sponsoring us. You can sponsor each swimmer individually by checking out our Team Page, or alternatively you can just make a donation to CLT itself.
