Kath Kicks Cancer Round 3 Campaign

Katherine is my older sister and has been a true warrior in fighting Stage 4 Breast Cancer. The cancer spread through the lymph system and after numerous CT scans and MRI's, it was discovered that the cancer was in her lungs, liver and bones. She began a new form of treatment and it began showing positive results until her follow up CT scan and MRI showed that the liver cancer was changing. After ten rounds of targeted Radiation there was hope that it would stop the growth of the tumor. Fast forward to January 2024 and another CT scan and MRI showed some devastating news - there was significant disease progression that resulted in three more tumors appearing in the liver.

Her Oncologist is throwing everything possible at this new mutation of the cancer but once again, Medical Aid is declining to pay for this new treatment. The current costs for each cycle is approximately R27000. We have applied for financial assistance to help cover the costs but even so it will still be a significant cost each month.

Katherine is a fighter and has never given up hope that she will eventually beat this but it is getting tougher each time a new bout of bad news is added to her plate.
