Funds for Historical Fees Campaign
Hello everyone! My name is Chelsea and I'm currently a student. In 2023, I started my first year with the South African College of Applied Psychology. My dream is to one day fulfill my dreams of becoming a psychiatrist which was inspired by baby brother who suffered from focal epilepsy. I want to provide effective treatment for children and adults like him. As far as our medical sector has come, they still haven't found effective treatment to hopefully repair damage caused by epilepsy or make it more manageable with intent to fully diminish the chances of having severe seizures. The only preventative and effective treatments have huge side effects on the skin, behaviour, eating patterns and others may sometimes be a little too invasive. My goal is to start groundbreaking research and further put our country on the map in the medical field as we've done so many times in the past.My plan was to start the study of human behaviour and attend the best school. Unfortunately, bursaries and schemes don't always find private education and I took the burden upon myself to pay it off. I got myself a full time job and studied online full-time. I've managed to pass really well but I cannot afford their fees. I dropped out at my last term because I could not keep with the high expenses as I also have a toddler to take care of, alongside my partner. We've tried everything and applied everywhere to get funding to settle the balance but I can't seem to find anyone that will find private education.
I've taken out small loans to pay off the school and so far, it's been really bad. What makes it heavier to carry, is that my mother is a single parent and relies on my help to assist with the household.
I have nothing left to lose and put my pride aside to ask for your help. I wouldn't be doing this if I had no other way.
My plan is to start saving even if it's little by little to pay off my fees. Once it's been settled I'll be able to save for my daughter's education so that she has the freedom to choose where she'd like to pursue her studies if she takes that path, without having to worry if a bursary or scheme might reject her.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
