Chanes Cancer Treatment Rozlytrek Campaign
Hi everyone!So on the 5th of December I had a meeting with my oncologist regarding mutation analysis on my Lymphoepithelial Carcinoma of the Lung and we found out that my tumour tested positive for the ROS1 mutation. This is a very rare mutation (occurs in about 1 - 2%) and as we know my cancer itself is also very rare (0.92%).
So we roll with the punches, take it on the chin and start looking at our options here.
I am no longer a candidate for immunotherapy given the mutation.
There is, however, a targeted treatment that has a VERY high success rate with ROS1 tumours. This is a specialised drug called Rozlytrek.
I know I have already started a BackaBuddy campaign to help with my medical bills, which has had an overwhelmingly positive response from everyone.
This is my next chapter. We've already started the chemo but just looking at the success rates of chemo (30%) versus this targeted treatment (70%+) one can see why I'd be more than desperate to at least see what I can accomplish in terms of fundraising.
One cycle of this treatment is around R70 000.
I am aiming to raise enough for at least 2 cycles, and I know that seems ambitious but it's worth a shot.
We're also trying what we can to spread awareness and reach outside of social media but that is a little bit challenging.
Anyways, hopefully people aren't sick of these campaigns just yet and understand my desperation.
