Helders Recovery Campaign

On Wednesday the 15th of November, Helder collapsed at the gym at 8am. The paramedics were called and he was taken to hospital, where many tests, sonars scans were done.

On Thursday 16th an MRI revealed that he had suffered a Cerrebellar Stroke.
On Friday 17th of November, his physician had him sent from the ICU to the medical ward, and unfortunately throughout that day, despite me constantly questioning his condition, he continued to deteriorate.

At 20h45 I made them move him back to ICU, and exactly an hour later I got the call the call to say that his condition had deteriorated rapidly, and the neurosurgeon had to intubate him, and do an emergency brain scan. I waited for the second call to confirm that they would need to take him into surgery for a drain to be inserted. The next few hours we didn't know whether he would wake up again.
Thankfully, he fought through and the following more was stable but sedated.

He spent roughly 12 days intubated and with a drain in his head.

He is currently in the process of being admitted to a Rehabilitation Centre to work on his physical strength and getting him strong enough to come home to us.

We have had such an outpouring of love and prayers that have carried us through this and for that I am eternally grateful. x

If anyone is able to make a small contribution to his medical costs and rehabilitation, it would mean the world to us as a family.

Much love and many thanks,
Candy x
