Yoga for Hope Sponsorship Campaign

My name is Buhle Ndawonde, and I live in Diepkloof, Soweto. As a recovering addict growing up in the townships, I believe that our kids need role models and the right guidance to help us navigate our world. I believe I was born to heal others, and I found that I can be of service to humanity through yoga.

Yoga helped me with healing spiritually, mentally, and physically as well. I would love to help heal people through yoga, as I know firsthand how it has worked wonders in my own personal journey to self-discovery on the road to recovery. Due to bad life choices and finding myself abusing substances, I went into rehab, and I was chosen to facilitate our yoga classes.

I would love to attend this training, as I feel there's a need in the townships that are plagued with depression and addiction. Yoga therapy will help manage our day-to-day struggles. Through these teachings, I'm able to ground myself, find the faith within to make it through. Community building and outreach will allow us to pay it forward to those that need it most. These funds will cover in-depth training. Each module weaves together perspectives of Yogic philosophy and Western science to create a future where the intermingling of indigenous healing systems and contemporary healing systems takes place for the greatest good. Every module contains foundational (theory and philosophy) knowledge and application methods (how to use the theory and philosophy to heal illness) embedded within it.
