Killick Anti Poaching Project Campaign
Hi, my name is Bronwyn, I'm 19 years old, and I grew up in a small town close to the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game reserve in Kwa-Zulu Natal. My sister, and I started this project because we spent many weekends and birthdays there. Savannah, and I have fond memories in the reserve experiencing some of the most amazing moments some people can only dream of. We are very fortunate to have one of the oldest Nature Reserves in Africa so close to our home town, which makes this project even more special for us. We decided on this project because we found out about the need for training the game rangers of the reserve on how to work with their K9 partner, and how to utilise their skill to their partners upmost ability. The K9 rangers are extremely important in the fight on saving our beloved endangered species, especially the Rhino, in the park. Did you Know the K9 Unit is the most successful when it comes to tracking down poachers. We teamed up with Wildlands to help us manage the funds, and to give us advice and guidance as we try to achieve our fundraising goal. Our goal is to raise R150 000 to send 4 rangers for specialised training for the Anti-poaching Unit of Hluhluwe-Imfolozi game reserve.It is extremely important to us that the funds are raised because we want to help in the fight to stop Rhino poaching, as well as help to protect our animals getting trapped in nasty snares set up by poachers. Most animals that get trapped in snares is not the intended animal the snare was set up for. This is also one of the main reasons why it is important for the rangers to have the proper training, and know what their four legged partners are telling them.
